Aftercare Options

“After a pet dies, their bodies can’t stay here with us. Some people choose burial so that the body becomes a part of the earth again. But other people choose cremation because it is a process that allows us to keep a special part of the body with us forever.” – Dawnetta Woodruff DVM

After your pet has passed, you can choose to have your pet buried or cremated. We offer cremation through Friends of the Family where you can either have your pet’s ashes returned or have them scattered for you. Friends of the Family is a family-owned pet crematorium in Springfield. For private cremations your pet’s ashes are placed in an engraved walnut box with a nameplate. They will be returned first to Dr. Melissa’s home, and she will contact you and return them directly to you. The listed prices for cremation are through Friends of the Family.

There are a few other options for cremations in the area, and we are happy to assist you in using the crematorium of your choice:

Tranquil Tides (https://tranquiltides.life/) is an aquamation facility in Nixa. Aquamation is a greener option to flame cremation, and Tranquil Tides is rightfully very proud of their laser engraved memorial urns. To use Tranquil Tides you will need to contact them directly beforehand to make arrangements.

Cherished Pets Funeral Home (https://cherishedpetsfuneralhome.com/) is the sister facility of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home and offers cremations, burials, and memorial services. They also offer 24/7 contact and pickup option. To use Cherished Pets you will need to contact them directly beforehand to make arrangements.
